Comrade Tambo’s London Recruits is a riveting award-winning new release documentary film that uncovers the untold stories of young activists who risked everything to fight against apartheid in South Africa. In the ’60s and ’70s, a group of British students and young professionals—ordinary citizens with extraordinary courage—embarked on a secret mission to smuggle anti-apartheid materials into South Africa, becoming part of the international struggle for freedom.

Through personal testimonies, rare archival footage, and a gripping narrative, London Recruits reveals these under-known but monumentally important contributions the anti-apartheid struggle. This inspiring tale of resistance and solidarity will leave you reflecting on the power of action in the face of injustice.

This screening, at 5pm on 13th February, is exclusively offered for the London Metropolitan University community and there will be a post-film discussion with key figures involved in the making of the film, including the film’s Director Gordon Main and two the original recruits, Peter Smith and Tom Bell.
